Dancers Guide: About

Dear Grade 6 through Grade 8 Ballet Exam Parents:

The Grade 6 through Grade 8 RAD Ballet Exams require specific exam attired as outlined by the RAD.  Your dancer will be required to wear a simple RAD approved bodysuit in a regulation colour, with a matching skirt and scarf of a specific size *(see image below).  You may choose to purchase a new bodysuit and have a skirt and scarf made or you may be able to find a second-hand exam outfit.

Any classic style of RAD leotard (nothing ornate or fancy).  Approved colours are Navy, Royal Blue, Lavender, Red, Burgundy or Mulberry.  Approved colours are listed on the RAD site or Artistic Dance can assist you in selecting a colour).

The skirt (worn after the Barre work) should be in a soft, lightweight material such as georgette or chiffon.  It should match the bodysuit and fall to a mid-calf length.  Circle skirts are the most flattering, but skirts gathered at the waist is acceptable.

Light scarf no larger than 1mx2m, but close to those dimensions.  Same colour and material as the skirt.
